(Recap —In the previous episode of the story we read about the experiences undergone by the great king Montana Mustachia and his Ex-army chief in the workshop of the young Alchemist …. )
As on today, we don’t assess the significant utility of “mirror” in our day to day life in a proportionate way, as a man assessed its value for the first time when it was invented for the first time in the history of mankind of that Eon. It’s because of the matter of the ambiance to a man when every amenity of life is with in his reach of hand from his birth and he is habitual to take every thing available casually. Hence, this made king Montana and his ex army chief astonished when they both experienced the experiment of watching their clear cut reflection of image for the first time in life.
No doubt, during the experiment both they displayed a deportment in a balanced way in accordance to their position and dignity. This was expected from them, But indubitably both they were astounded and surprised to the extinction. During the experiment both they had been transported to another world and truth was, still when they were heading back to king’s palace, they were in rapturous trance. This “after effect” had a strong “rippling effect” on them that still kept them in a mesmerizing state of mind. Along with, both had unanimity that it was a unique kind of invention.
At that evening both they sat for a serious contemplation and after a long, great deliberation chalked out some significant edicts about and in dealing with the use and utility of this new invention. These were in concise as follows:
First – Since, every property be it immovable or a chattels already proclaimed as the assets of the kingdom and king had privileged right over that by the dint of law whether a law was enacted about that or not. Hence all the rights about the usage and disposal of the mirror were to be considered as an integral part of the kingdom.
Second – What so ever in number, the pieces prepared or manufactured by Alchemist, they were to be deposited in the treasury or in special custody of the great king barring an exception that two or three full sized pieces of mirror be left behind in the custody of the Alchemist for the use of his and feudal lord Magatee’s family.
Third – This second clause had some additional special instructions. No one else other than feudal lord, his old wife, daughter and son in law ( the Alchemist) will have the approach to the mirror to look into that. On violation of this clause, the capital punishment be served upon the felons.
Fourth- Since, now mirrors as such has become the king’s property, only those be able to look into the mirror whom great king grants the permission. The priority to look into the mirror shall be granted to the personnels belonging to the king’s council only.
Fifth – In extra- ordinary circumstances, a layman could be granted permission to look into the mirror, provided if he displayed some “out of the box” valor or deeds for the beneficent of the kingdom.
Sixth – A diplomatic protocol be observed regard neighborly kings visiting the kingdom. They specifically be treated to grant the permission to watch themselves in the mirror. (This privilege was on purpose. It was with an intent to make them feel astounded through this “art of the State” invention.)
Seventh – As per the announcement already made by the great king, young Alchemist was to be adorned as “State Alchemist.” Along with a sack full with substantial money was to be gifted to the Alchemist.
Eight – Feudal lord Magatee was to be promoted as “member of king’s council” from his old, common feudal ship.
Ninth- The workshop of alchemist was to remain under round the clock security zone. In a way, “workshop” considered merged into king’s direct property. In lieu of that, feudal lord Magatee (now member of king’s Council) was to be allocated a huge Estate at the place of his choice.
These were points that were considered significant to be jotted down in that urgent counselling. With the passing of time, so many other causes were inserted accordingly. Finally, a book of enactment came into existence that dealt solely with everything regard usage, safety measures, maintenance and other possible utilities etc of the mirror in future. Since, to enhance the efficacy of the mirror while treating with special guests needed a theatrical and mystical presentation, hence on such occasions, the presence of young Alchemist were declared mandatory.
Other wise also, now he was King’s nominated State’s Alchemist and was supposed to give demo of mirror before guests in a magical style. The demo in all aspects was hoped to produce a mesmerizing and astounding effect. It was the wish of the great king. This “wish” had some hidden purposes.. When a special guest had to undergo the first life time’s experience of his clear reflection of the image, he was expected to become mesmerized and rapturous. King and his ex army chief knew, as much long this after effect would prevail, this might help to propagate magically about the new invention of the kingdom all around. A day had to come when magical stories about the “mirror” were bound to float whole through the territory of the kingdom and beyond.
Those stories were to generate an influence over the people within the kingdom that how much great their king was now as a “master” of a magical and mysterious thing. Apart from, the significant clause of ” display of extra- ordinary valor or other deeds” might offer a visit to appear before the new invention could work as a great “motivational tool” for common people. Though, this motivational drive firstly needed the visit to the mirror by royal members of the King’s Court, so they can propagate some stories. From there, the chapter of providing social service to royal gentry began in the life of young Alchemist. (End of the Part 17th. Cont’d.) Penned by — Vinay Pharasi —
