Ferede Village “Home Stay” (the Ghost story) Part -2 …

Ferede village “Home stay” (the Ghost story) Part -1

(Recap –  in the first episode of the story, I narrated about my plan to visit some Hill destination, to pass some quality time in the peaceful lap of nature. Upon the suggestion of my one friend, I happened to land on here at this “Home Stay.”)

In continuation to the description of the first part, some further facts needed to be described where this “Home Stay” had its location. The name of the Home Stay was based upon the title of the the village Ferede village. As I told earlier, the road which led to this Home Stay village was like a by pass road. That road traversed on the upper side of this village. As it often found in the hill sides,  by cutting the edge of a mountain, roads are made to facilitate the transportation. In hill sides, some villages are situated on the sides of the roads. It depends upon the availability of suitable plain lands. Otherwise,  a good number of villages in shape of hamlet are situated either on the upper ledge or down in the lap of hills.

Ferede Village “Home Stay” : It’s a perception of eyes

Entirely this is “facet of looking into the situation of a village.” Otherwise, the situation of every village is in “the lap of the hill” in fact. Meaning there by, it depends upon the location of a village, that makes you to approach there either to ascend from the main road or descend from the main road. In first case, approaching to the village at ascension is arduous, meanwhile comeback meandering down is soothing. At the same, if descending from the road is soothing, them coming back onto the road is arduous. This “Home Stay Village” had been situated just at a short distance descent. A short distant meandering slope from the main road, bifurcated in two roads. At the right flank side road, this “Home Stay” stood all alone. The left flank road continued to the side of populated habitats of local natives.

Ferede Village “Home Stay” : Next day

I kept on sleeping for long in my room. When I left the bed next day, the clock displayed the 11.00 a m. of the day. In becoming fresh and taking bath etc, another an hour got consumed. I came down and a sort of “brunch”, I took in the dinning room. After that, I basked for a while in the open lawn chair and enjoyed the little warm sun rays.   The lawn of the “Home Stay” stretched in a wide span, like a big field. On the edge of the field, it was surrounded by the clusters of trees in a row in the entire boundary. That worked like a natural fence apparently. The lust greenery of these, inclusive of field was  a beauteous sight. An out and out calm ambiance, that was distracted by some wheezing past vehicles on the upper side main road. The basking under the sun rays were so fondling, I remained sat there for about two hours.

Ferede Village “Home Stay” : Proprietor of the Home Stay

The “home Stay,” I planned for the sojourn, belonged to some well-off man of the same ‘ Ferede village.’ The place I couched in the lawn,  from here the lake, I spotted from the window of the room was not visible from this point. Might be, due to field being surrounded and guarded by clusters of tall trees. A whim to take some stroll flashed in mind. Although, prior to set on my strolling, I should have consulted to the “Home stay” staff. Reason being, I was stranger to the location. But as it often happens with a urbanite, he takes the decision depending upon his own surmise. In fact that was not appropriate here. The topography of the hilly areas varies altogether from that of plains. The place you guess near to your reach, in fact is situated at far distance. It all is because of back drop of hills around and multilateral reflection of  daylight.  I too fell a prey to this delusion.

In a normal pace I crossed the vast field of the Home Stay and reached to the verge of the field. There stood clusters of dense woods in a fashion, as if, surrounding the entire verge of field like a dense fence. It was panoramic to watch wild woods from a near point. At a place, in between the clusters of dense woods, I noticed a  small path that descended to down side gradient. I initiated my treading through that path. It was like descending from a platform to the meandering path.

Ferede Village “Home Stay” : Swing cradle

Again at some point, where dense woods thinned away on the track. I caught the site of the same two minaret like towers, I had witnessed from the window of my room. Two towers on this side of the river bank and similar two towers on the other side of the bank. A cable type rope taut across, from this side of tower connected to another side tower. A cable type rope way was clearly visible. A “swing cradle” dangled upon that wire. An another supporting rope to pull the “pulley” of the cradle was also there.

I candidly noticed a native woman, attired in the old traditional costumes set into that cradle. She had a bundle of green fodder  and two hilly goats loaded in the same cradle. She busied pulling the rope that passed through the “pulley” of the “swing cradle” hung in the air and gliding to this side of the river. Spell bound I kept watching her. She reached to side. She unloaded herself along with her goats, then yoked the fodder bundle onto her back with a strap and moved onto her way. Goats followed her. To me this was like a scene of Nature’ s circus. Suddenly, I came out of the spell and again began strolling down the meandering track. (End of the part- 2 of the story.) Penned by — Vinay Pharasi …..
