Those useful 100 hacks ( in Indian context) —

Here, you are requested to give yourself only five minutes to ponder over a simple query. In this five minutes you have to divide your life span into two segments regard an issue. (This division is simply a division of span of time.) One part is that one when social media had properly not been introduced or became a time pass (consuming) device in our society. Another segment is of after that time. Meant, roughly it can be divided into two phases.  One time span is prior to the year of 2016 and another after that. Here, social media segment is allotted ten years.

Prior to the year of 2016, the main sources of our information based upon TV programs, daily news papers and weekly or fortnightly or monthly periodicals. We used to resort to them for both purposes i.e. entertainment as well as information. After the year of 2016, social media gained popularity and in next coming years it also became cheapest cost value accessed source for information and entertainment. Social media got influx with transcripted messages and visuals. Many of them were fraught with knowledge and useful information. This is the key phrase of my this blog.

Here, on every day we chance to encounter with visuals in shape of hacks which are useful in our diurnal life. We intently watch them, appreciate them, often punch the “like” button of those visuals and scroll on to the next visual. On watching such kind of visuals pertaining to useful hacks, we happen to commit to ourselves, ” Vow! Stupendous! Certainly, I will apply this hack in near future!” To say, such hacks may pertain to various parts of our day to day life.

These may be related to sanitation of our bathroom problems, toilets or about clothing maintenance or about the style how to wear them with a new look. Or if you are fond of occasional cooking (specifically for men,) some new innovation in cooking recipe is certainly to be about that. In total, as per the choice and hobby, every one finds some hacks daily and makes a determination to apply that hack. Even, you “save” some of these clippings into your collection.

Now, after finishing your day in scrolling the screen for maximum available time, when you go to the bed, how many hacks do you remember exactly? Further, the hacks you saved in your collection, how many of them you tried to watch in replay maneuver? Perhaps, your answer may not be in affirmation. For every day you are busy with new, fresh information, entertainment videos and hacks overlapping the older one. Again with new hacks you commit to yourself to apply that in future!  Can you suggest to yourself, how many hacks in last ten years you committed to your memory been properly remembered fully or partially?

Further, how many of saved videos you efforted to watch again? If talking of percentile, hardly the rate of recalling reaches to 5%. What this all is? This is the “deep negative effect” of social media that we never realized.  Truly say, we don’t opt to comprehend this truth either! We merely need a “tool of entertainment to kill our idleness.” Every evening when we go to our bed, this influx of visuals of social media had already rotten our brain to the extent that it automatically forced to go into “inert mode.” This is an open symptom of “addiction.” It’s not motivating you but demotivating.

Just in contrast, walk back to the time span of prior to the year of 2016.  You had the opportunity to watch the TV, when you were back home only. Otherwise, generally , out in the public place, your main source of information were daily news papers or other kinds of magazines you could reach your hand out to. When you happened to peruse that all, you focused deeply on that contents. In that concentration, whatever useful hacks or new information you  went through, you also happened to commit your memory. If newspaper or magazine were your own purchased item , you also cut the clippings as a part of your valuable collection. There, some of them you often tried and apply for your use.

This was a cursory differentiation of being focused on print media and virtual media. But the key question is, ” have you applied one hundred hacks in total in your personal life?” Just ponder over it seriously! Whatever mannerism or deportment you have adopted in your life, in true sense that all was taught you either by your parents, teacher or some benefactors. Apart from, a big chunk of  in life, you have been imitating others. Even, the “videos” you “saved” in you collection on purpose, never had been utilized. Again, for example, even the recipe collection if used by chance, that never became your permanent cooking item. Here, I am not talking about professional chefs; they also prefer traditionally cooked back in their home.

At the end, one thing emerges up explicitly, “ we are given to read in excess but reflect upon that in quite minimal.” Meant, our ability is tilted to one side. And this tilted ability is of “passive” nature. Just watching the video or hacks and let go it! On being trapped in some problems in diurnal issues, we just stress our mind, ” Oh! I had had some solution of this problem in shape of hack in my mind, but what I read or watched and when, I can’t recall that.” In simple words, whatever the knowledge, we are given to collect in shape of hacks ( the number may grow to thousands,) hardly one hundred of that we never apply in our life.
