In general, the articles pertaining to human interactions and social behavior, often the contents of writings are based upon the experiences of author. This experience may be, an out come of his assumptions, presumptions and perception which in some cases may be axiomatic as well. Besides, this writer being the part and parcel of of Indian middle class society , the contents of his writings but natural has to be confined to that social spectrum. In every society, this middle class plays a major role, in propounding social norms, moorings and ethics.
The inspirational role of Middle Class
This middle class, always plays an “inspirational role” for lower class stratum. For, this lower class has got a direct interaction with this middle class. This is in the sense, the lower class provides services to this middle class. Implicitly, his economy is influenced by this class. The upper class has ever been “limited in percentile”, and his social interaction rarely get influenced by any other class, other than its own upper class class. So, when getting along with the subject matter of this blog, the generation I speak of is about this middle class. As previously told, this class helps play an inspirational role to lower class people. Since, that class always strive to rise up to the middle class, and this too is natural process of development.
In this blog, the reference of old generation is confined to a generation, that about thirty years ago was, as a young generation. In the technological terminology, it was the generation of “land line telephonic and selected government TV channels” user generation of India. Whilst, the present generation opened her eyes in the era, that was harnessed with all the amenities. The amenities of android phones, internet and TV with innumerable Channels of entertainment etc. The old generation had a propensity. That propensity included, the observance of social old ethics. It was ethical, to extend regard to senior members, whether they belong to the family or out of the family.
Old values prevailed
In that period of time, the entire family gathered at evening meal and partook that collectively in a cordial affinity. This evening supper happened like a function, and helped generate a cordiality. The social norms and values were emphasized upon greatly and handed over to the next generation, in shape of “sanskaras.” In total, society was not so opened or person concentric. But this does not mean, the concept of “privacy of family members” were not observed. Rather, that was observed as the “silent code of conduct.”
Even any family member, having got entangled in some ‘Love affairs,’ tried to give all his efforts, so that his this affair not be disclosed, prior to attaining the maturity. The telephonic conversations of such pairs were so prefixed, with a study of family members behavior. In the way, when elder family members were supposed, not to be near the telephone apparatus. Then such type of phone calls were conducted, and that too in taciturn mode. And unfortunately, if some such call were received in other family members’s presence, it was dealt with cleverly. So it might sound a general call from some common friend. In case of meeting at appointed place, a strict code of conduct for not violating the limit was properly observed.
Today’s spectrum of openness
Nowadays’ generation is of Android phone. This generation is added with great facility of text messaging. Besides, every member of the family is equipped with android hand set and this hand set is a mysterious one . The new generation what needed today? Simple, they don’t want the parental control over them…. And the same they are enjoying. They are free from the bogus and conservative stigma of ” considering the opinion of elders etc.”
Just sitting in front of parents, they are having textual chat on every kind of subject. Since, this device provides them a protection, it’s a mute show basically. This simply means, they are cheating upon parents. But, who is basically responsible for this irresponsible demeanor of children? Answer is obvious ! Parents are liable for this misdemeanor either. They with open eyes observing the careless attitude of new generation ,but even after they have shut their eyes. So obviously, they should suffer the consequences along with new generation.
