In our social fabrication, a successful person is bound to go, through two different poles of experiences in his entire carrier. First pole, he experiences the very day he qualifies for some prestigious post or service by virtue of his intelligence and diligence. This prestigious service may be Civil Services, Army Commission, some gazetted class officialdom, medical carrier, higher Police services or Judicial Services etc etc. It,s not an easier task to get selected for any of these posts. With your selection for any prestigious service, it,s presumed, you are now offered with vista of ladder of success in coming future.
Beginning
No sooner you are declared as a successful candidate for some top services, you become a “noted” man around your place of residence. Your renown, may also cross some local barrier, depending upon the importance of service you qualified for. Meant, if you excel for some upper top class carrier. With this, your acquaintances, kith and kin visit your place and shower you with benediction and good wishes. This helps elevate the social status of your family, and, your person as well. You by yourself begin to feel elated and elevated . Almost a sense of “proud,” you generate inside yourself, which you adroitly conceal behind your humble demeanor. This was your first wrung of ladder of success that you climbed properly.
Finishing point
Now come to the last day of your carrier of the active service. That day is bound to arrive, after more than thirty years of services you rendered during your carrier. On that day, you are getting retired, may be, as the head of the department, or in the civil service as a Principal secretary or Chief Secretary. May be, if in Judicial services as Judge of District Court or High Court or as a Chief Justice etc. This was the last and uppermost wrung of your ladder of success of your carrier.
Impartial analysis
Now, if you are asked to compare the value added analysis, as an impartial judge of your this first wrung of ladder of success, with that of the last and uppermost wrung. Then the scintillating sense of pleasure as an outcome of this analysis, you realize. That comes, in the form that the very first day when your name was declared as a successful candidate for the post. That, with in a night made you a “celeb,” and an internal spontaneous felicity you experienced the very day, was unique and divine.
The same sense of pleasure, never you entertained in your future life. Despite achieving significant departmental promotions and key postings. The reason for that was obvious; your success was not your “individualistic’ only, it was partaken by your family. Besides, your “success story” had become an “inspirational example,” for a good deal of number of youth who were trying their hand in the same direction. Other parents used to cite your name as a symbol of success, to encourage their children. It is quite bizarre fact that after your long services when you get retired, no one from that your bygone era of first day success was there to witness that.The fact is, a big deal of number of old generation existed no more. And, the young generation of that period of time, after a short span forgot your name.
The another agonizing facet of your last wrung you know better, is that you already had begun to feel, getting devoid of your official power after some days. The expected divesting of power, of which you were harnessed with, This feeling began to create a vacuum inside you. You also know that within a few days, your colleagues, subordinates and office related acquaintances too would put you in oblivion. Your existence as such from there memory is going to delete majorly.
Not only this, in your office, a good number of people, who might have hold countless complaints against your work culture, but could not move because of your powerful position. So that, they kept their mouth shut, by the fear of being punished by you. But the very day, you are ousted they don,t contain that fear, and began to “tarnish” your image with fabricated stories.
The achievement
Then what you achieved at last? The provident fund as a financial support and pension only! And this fund and pension worked as a guarantee, for the attention your children will pay to you. This financial gain is the only gain, in the eyes of your children. For they very well know, a retired government official, be he the secretary or or judge don,t carry the wait as such in today’s world. Otherwise also, the habit of living lavish and high profiled life style daunts you too much at this stage. When all of a sudden, you are out of the lime light and circumstances force you to live a “low profiled” life. Don’t forget, it happens with every one of us in this or that way, on attaining the old age. So the best remedy to encounter the malady is.
