We often use the term total destruction or devastation in our daily life but rarely we apply the term annihilation. While, as a matter of fact, annihilation is also somewhat identical to devastation. Keeping away this differentiation, the topic of this blog is, why and how we reach to a culminating point in shape of devastation or annihilation. What are the prestages which lead to this culmination. There certainly are prestages in shape of decay and ruin that make a situation or person to encounter the culminating stage of final destruction or devastation or annihilation. With a simple paradigm, we can realize it.
A patient visits a doctor for his medical check up after undergoing some troubles. By going through the case history of the patient, doctor comes to the conclusion that by being addict to some bad habits the health of patient is waning. Doctor alerts him, “you are spoiling your health because of these bad habits. You are advised to get rid at once of these habits otherwise you may be finished.” Here, finished simply meant, patient may succumb to the after effects of those bad habits and can die. These bad habits are micro stages and are supposed to culminate into macro effect of “end of life.” This last stage is annihilation or total destruction.
In consonance to the above paradigm, another instance is about the natural calamity of a flash flood that suddenly assails some locality and annihilates the vast area in shape of great devastation. Apparently, this havoc looks as an incident that occurred suddenly. But every devastation have had a series of minor factors playing their role. When these minor factors were occurring, we didn’t pay a heed to them and intentionally averted our eyes from them. Never a flash flood erupts from a distant located snowy peak without some reasons behind. There always are some factors to lead a major event.
And man is always responsible to create those factors. How can a glacier suddenly melt in hours or in a day? The glacier melts in majority of cases by the follies of men. It’s men who give birth to these factors. The significant factor in causing of melting of glaciers is connoted the “global warming.” This global warming is an out come of chain of measurable faults conducted by human beings. Who are to make responsible in sponsoring this chain of factors? We human being only!
The occurrence of sudden flash flood is an outcome of of the process of prestages named as micro factors. It was Methane gas effect, polluted air caused by Petro carbon, deforestation and so many other things. This process took decades to reach a culmination and in between this period of time nothing noteworthy was done timely to repair the damage. This was a situational instance of follies of humans at a large scale. Likely to this, another case pertains to the “wealth.”
Wealth, either we inherits or earn by our hard toiling in life. A situation comes in the life of a wealthy person, when he begins to think, ” I am so clever in minting the money. Now whatever field I can choose to invest, that certainly will reap me a fortune.” From here only, the process of ruin or decay begins. His this thinking himself excelling others is not a confidence, it was rather a over confidence or presumptuous thinking. The correctly chosen term is “conceit.” In this situation a man becomes unable to use his discretion properly.
Here, he may encounter two types of situations. Firstly being sound enough in financial position, if he takes one new project in hand and beaten up, but it hardly effects his financial standing. He thinks, ” It doesn’t matter, I can take another new project in hand, that will compensate the loss of previous project.” But what comes up? The second project too came up a debacle. Now like a defeated gambler, he will try next hand, then again next hand. The day comes, when he is standing on the “cross road” with big holes in his pocket as a penniless.
The second situation is, in over confidence he can take a big financial risk in his first attempt and in this stake faces a disaster. This devastation is an outcome of “decay process” majorly. Since, every decision is taken by the mind. The miscalculation due to over confidence or otherwise is the major prestage of this devastation or annihilation. And when you reach down to a Zero, you are left by your “good weather friends” also in first preference. If talking of “bad weather friends”, you already had ignored them when you were climbing the ladder of success. This part is also one of micro factors, for good friends are always good adviser.
The same sort of occurrence we may observe about the “prestige” of a man. After giving toilsome efforts, a man earns a “good will” of name.This good will helps him procure success in life and multiple doors of bright futures get opened wide for him angelically. This “good will” also helps him earn a “prestigious position” in the society. He may be acknowledged as a good leader or social worker/activist or a business man depending upon each case. As a businessman, his business runs smoothly, for the good will of his quality control of product is recognized widely.
But, if under the cover of this “good will,” he intentionally introduces a “bad product” in the market. May be for once, people may ignore it as a mistake of “production line”. His balance sheet remains as brighten as before. Now in over confidence, he begins to introduce other “products” by compromising on quality. This is amounted to a conceited and intentional attempt. It will lead to a total collapse of the business and hard earned good will.
The same thing may occur with a man of “social repute”in another form. If a highly positioned society man takes a step in his own life any by his conduct violates the prevailing norms and ethics, that may stain his position. But repercussion of his misconduct may not surface up in a cognizable way. People may prefer to maintain a hush by looking at his social stature. Or the first flaw public generally ignores, it’s the custom of the social system. But if this man assumes this “silence” as a victory in a conceited way that he is a public icon and whatever violation of social norms he is free to commit, then he has begun to go through the micro process of decaying. A day comes when his presumptuous attempts lead his entire prestige to a total collapse.
This purports, total destruction or annihilation don’t occur in a day. It certainly has to go through the process of decay or ruining as micro factors. Annihilation is the macro point that a person generates by his irrational deportment. If we are always on guard, away from the element of overconfidence and haughtiness, we can check it.
