Distancing, mystery and delusion…..

(Note- The concept of distancing in this article is not in context to Covid-19.)

                                        God in old scriptures

The existence of god as an entity, is remarkable in the way, you can describe it. You may put him, either in the category of mystery or delusion or in both of them. But even after that, it is not extricable. The god is defined in various religious faith, in different capacities. In certain sects, god is an embodiment, while in others, having no form or shape. Anywhere in the World, where description of the god is found in the human form, that is so ancient. Or, seem described, beyond the mensurable old age period, rather, beyond the known memory of mankind. And, that too is based upon the description, expatiated in the old religious scriptures.

                                                        In the present scenario

In the present scenario, in the available periodicals and records in last many centuries, it is not discernible, as an embodiment of human being. The description of “spiritual persona,” rather we find, as “great saints” or “miraculous persons endowed with para normal power.” Though, some of them been declared as “incarnation.” In the light of this, the mankind is always supposed to determine and follow its deportment, through experiences and observation of “great persons.” And supposed to materialize that, by following the line of conduct to uplift its “social status.”

                                            Indian panorama

  With reference to Indian panorama, for a given long stretch of centuries after centuries, we people were exclusively agriculture based social structure. In this structure, people used to inhabit in villages. In an ambiance, with an easy going life style, saturated with a gregarious natural disposition and without pomp and show. The social intermixing was followed abundantly.

The social fabric, in which, inhabitants of a village, happened to consider all houses as their own. The doors of each and every house were opened to all. Never, there was observed, the element of differentiation or disparity, from any angle. Interestingly, the yards of all houses were opened to all, and there prevailed, no any concept of boundary wall around the houses.

                      Concept of disparity got introduced

 Later on, gradually the concept of “boundary wall” or “fence” came into existence. First reason, for this was ,”nature” in some part of cases. In fact, its introduction was, with intent to protect the arable lands from the damages of wild animals. To protect the agriculture products, from the wild animals, the concept of erecting the protection wall or fence came into the fashion. Likely, in the same way, to protect the chattels and houses from the people of criminal mind set, the construction of boundary wall necessitated. In this series, villages which existed as “tribal unit,” into which, the house of village head as the “tribal chief” was provided with extra strong and defensive walls. And, this process with the passing of time, took the shape of fortress, as the house of chief of a small tract.

                                         Mysterious shroud

 Another factor appertains to the display of one’s extra ordinary position. This tendency of display, as an important and financially strong one, as well as, a distinct one from other members of the society.  This tendency, gave rise of construction of “protection wall,” along with a desire to maintain a “distance” from others, who were less in status. This propensity of taking oneself distinct from others, was nothing, but the “egotist” and “self centered” feelings. To accomplish this task, this class of “egotists and self centered” persons maneuvered to put on a shroud of mystery over themselves.

                                                    Other factors

This behavior with the obtainment of wealth, turned up into an attitude, as a fashion. With this, houses began to be fenced with high walls . The king and lords in the society, were the outcome of this observance. And, concept of “maintaining a distance” kept on flourishing duly. With the expansion of the social system, later on came the long period of foreign invaders.

This period of invasion, brought with them their own culture and got that introduced in the shape of modernization. Gradually, a race began for modernization added with the introduction of new educational system. This race, helped to generate the feeling of “excelling” from others, and, this delusion kept on increasing.

As on today, as much as you are shrouded in the delusion of mystery, you are regarded as a man of “high stature,” and become entitled to awesome respect. A multitude of filthy rich, great artists, political leaders are advancing ahead taking advantage of this psychology of “mystery.” They all have borrowed, rather, stolen this idea basically from the theory of “mystic existence of the God.” Today’s fashion of “personality cult” and treating a great person as “demigod,” is the outcome of the same concept. In the random, we find the example of constructing of pagodas or temples of living celebs and leaders. In the same way, at the village level we find the small pagodas of local deities and miraculous saints or seers, are nothing but the prototype of the same thing. Penned by__Vinay Pharasi…..
