Ferede Village "Home Stay" ( the Ghost story- Part 10th) ...
Recap- In the last parts of my story, I already have mentioned about my whimsical stroll which led me to a Victorian bungalow. There I chanced to meet with an English man named Mr. Frederick Viole. He offered me some drinks and related an interesting story regard the locality. After that he made behest to his servant to drop me back to the spot, from where I had initiated my stroll.)
When I happened to disclose the name of English man Mr. Frederick Viole, the mention of this name literally made their breathing stop. Hardly they were breathing. The owner of “Ferede Village Home Stay” spoke in stammering voice, “What kind of weird talk, you are talking Sir?” There exists nothing sort of that! Only a deep chasm and down inside that depth a dense woods survives only.” How could I accept their argument. Agitated, I began to relate my entire experience of yesterday afternoon, in detail. I told them, how I happened to meander down through a path way, then I told about the big stretch of paddy fields, of bungalow, of Bhotia ( Tibetan Mastiff) dogs. Each and every thing I described in detail. I spoke of the servant, who had see- off me up to the edge of huge lawn of the Home stay.
My narration aghast them
As much as I continued my narration, in the same proportion the horrible expression on their faces deepened. Now, I too had begun to realize, something big unnatural, in my narration was. I continued, “when I was descending down, I too witnessed an old aged high lander woman gliding in swing cradle. She boarded on the cradle from that side tower and glided past to this side. Not only this she too owned two or three goats and load of grass bundle along with her in the cradle. She boarded off from the cradle, on this side only and took her way to the village side with her belongings. I can show you the point also, where servant Roop Lal dropped me at last on my reaching on the top.”
When I uttered the name of Roop Lal, the helper of the Home Stay’s owner, abruptly set down on the floor, holding his head in both his hands. ” This can’t be true Sir! Just show us the point from where you begun your journey down ward Sir?” The Stay Home owner insisted upon in great agitation. His excitement was on the highest degree. I got happily agreed to their demand. For, still I had crystal clear photographic image in my mind of the point, from where I had begun my down ward stroll. Even I too could show them the point, from where I witnessed the old woman on the swing cradle. But by looking at their aghast faces, now I too was greatly confused.
The point from where I strolled down
Something prompted me. I lifted myself from my cozy sitting and all three of us proceeded towards the point. It took about three minutes to traverse the huge lawn cum field of the Home stay. With determined steps, we were near the clusters of trees, that worked as the fencing of the field. I preceded towards the spot, from where I had begun my descending stroll. Both they were following me. Surprise! Great surprise! Nothing sort of last evening scenario was there! A high abrupt precipice which ran from the edge of this side to the another side of of the entire village like a down side wall, awaited me. Yes! from amid the the space of cluster of trees, the towers of swing cradle were visible. But towers had no wiring rope to connect both the sides of towers.
Obviously when no any such connecting wire was there, how could I find a swing cradle hung in the air there. In a great confusion, I threw glance from this side to that side and then in front of me. Deep down, where “precipice” appeared to end, down at afar distance, a dense forest stretched with all its expanse. At once, I felt a chilled sensation running down to my spine. Their cadaverous faces now made me realize, something weird, I had encountered last afternoon and on wards. After that, enwrapped in a mysterious silence, we all retreated to the reception room.
Home Stay owner’s statement
We all set their enwrapped in our own mire of thoughts for long. After a short while, the owner of the Home Stay began, ” Sir, last evening you were encountered by ghosts! This is true, long… long ago there happened to exist a bungalow of an English man of the same description, you described. His name was Frederick Viole. This is also true , this village was established by the father of Frederick sahib. He too gave the name of his Estate after the name of his son Frederick Viole sahib, whose name you are mentioning. The story of the construction of the canal is true to all its contents. Still that canal is operational and the serve the purpose for which it was dug.
Again he stopped short and then told, “The name of the servant of English man was Roop Lal, it’s true. Roop Lal was the grand father of my this assistant..” Really saying, this disclosure of facts had made my whole existence trembled in an unknown fear. Merely I could utter, “But all this was what kind of things? Whether that Sahib left this place, but when? May be after Independence of India, in the year of 1947? But where the bungalow has gone? I stopped short and asked, ” Didn’t you hear the the roaring of loud bang of gun shot? That kept vibrating the surroundings for long.” My this disclosure confused them to the extinction.
There came a strong denial
” What kind of weird thing you are talking Sir? None of us heard any such report of the gun shot! And how that can be possible Sir! When there existed nothing sort of anything down there!” That was their flabbergasted reply. In a mire of confusion, I asked about the sound of throttling sound of the old timed truck engine. Vehemently, both they waved their heads in a big “Nay.” But confirmed, “the appearance of the Hilly leopard is not uncommon in this area Sir. But they visit the locality in late night and that’s too in season of Monsoon.” When he finished his statement, for a long all we remained petrify there, in an obmutescence.
