Arcadian Romeo….Part – 4 (The last episode)

(Recap – In the last episode we read that my this Arcadian Romeo brother was forced to enter in the nuptial tie with a girl from the same village where his Nepali old aged sweet heart stayed. Whether he got reformed or not, all that in this concluding last part of the story.)

Although, my this over sentimental, ever inclined to fall in love with  girls, type cousin brothergot forced to enter in to a nuptial tie, by his father. It has been a customary remedy in our Indian society, if a boy is deviating from the right path and being indulged in unwarranted activities, get him married. It is presumed, after marriage the domestic liabilities may serve the purpose to restrict him from deviating to wrong path. But, if the body constitution is molded to live a life of “love bird,” then how come this formulae work properly.

The impact of past affair – The past affair of my this cousin Arcadian Romeo type brother with the Nepali widow had brought some curious changes in his nature. These changes were specific. Now he had developed a tendency in liking of women with a specific features. It seemed, any woman with Mongoloid features attracted him vitally. And just look into the play of the fate ! The girl with whom he got forced to marry was fair complexioned and good looking one. She had sharp features, as though, chiseled properly. On the contrary, my this cousin brother had developed a liking for for a woman with flat face features. This made his wife misfit in the “aspects of beauty” he conjured in the mind.

As it oftentimes happens with every nuptial tie, some years in the beginning, pass by in quenching the lustful desire. Simply it’s “passion of sex.” The same happened here. In those years of his domesticity, he fathered five children. But after the marriage, it was hard for him to run his practice at the same old place. The reason were obvious. That place contained houses of “in – laws”  as well as of “old Nepali sweet heart.” Besides, his newly wedded wife couldn’t allow this. To run the practice at the same old place was like walking on a tight rope. The one end of this rope was tied  with wife and another end was with old sweet heart. Being fraught with shameful feelings and afraid of watchful eyes of  ‘in laws’, he decided to shift his clinical venue to some other place.

Besides, that was the time, when such type of ‘love affairs’ had to remain ‘talk of the town’ for long time to come. My this Romeo brother sought a solution to this problem. Just opposite to the direction of his ‘in laws’ village, at a distance of about fifteen miles away, he chose a village to run his practice. This new place located at the foot of a hill, populated properly as a backward area. Apart from, it had an advantage. This side of the area was separated from the old place by a big river, though not perennial with flowing water. But because of the river, this area had a different geographic standing. The geographic location was enough to cut the old acquaintances of cousin brother from this side population.

New location – As I mentioned before, he was a good hand in his vocation, his newly established practice too began flourishing there. Since clinic was at a considerable distance from his parental house, so he visited the home on week end only. And during these visits, his children one after another too came intermittently  in this World. It seemed, as if, everything was running soothingly on every front of life. His parents and wife, all were happy with this development. It occasioned that after the lapse of some years,  once he did not appear on the week end. Parents and wife had an impression, it might be owing to some complications in the clinical profession. Probably he was put in a critical situation to attend some seriously ill patient which forced him not to visit the home. But amazingly he was not shown at the next coming week end.

Shocking adventure  –  But to the shock and beyond the imagination of the family, after two days of the second week of his absence, police team appeared on the door of the family, accompanied with a Nepali man. The police team elicited, why my this Arcadian Romeo brother was not shown on the week end. His attraction and love for the Mongoloid  featured woman had deviated him again. This time, he cajoled the wife of  this Nepali man, who accompanied the Police team. It was obvious his wife too was with Nepali features. And for last more than ten days both were missing from the scene. But natural, this was a an explosive revelation and it evoked a great uproar in the village.

Any how, the police working procedure that was based upon her secret information, and rest of by following the past history of my this Romeo brother, both the “Love birds” were traced. Both they found staying at a cheap type hotel in a religious town, not so far away. That was an old time, and it was the custom in the hotel business, if a couple arriving as a married couple, they were allotted the room.  It was a bizarre situation for the father of the cousin brother. To save the skin of the son, he greased the palm of the police officer. Not only this, he too paid a handsome amount to the husband of the woman.  Perhaps, the payment of amount to husband was a sort of compensation for the lust my Arcadian Romeo brother enjoyed in this short “honeymooning.”

With the lapse of the time, when the storm settled down, I happened to inquire about all this directly from my this cousin brother. But as I mentioned earlier about financial inclination in aspect of his every love affair, he was so boastful. In a swag he boasted, ” In this elopement and staying of in the hotel, all the expenditure were beared by the lady and rest by the father. Not a single penny I spent out of my pocket.” He told smugly. In total, if some one was in loss, it was the father only, financially as well as socially. That was an old time,  how so old a son was, he was to be recognized by the name of the father.

Next mission – But despite of the occurrences of shameful incidences one after another, nothing deterred my this Romeo brother to get involved in his next mission. After this sensational incidence, his clinic again got uprooted from the foot hill village. Now this time, he decided to reopen his new clinic in the slum area of the same “religious city” from where he was recovered by the police. Here, in his last recorded mission of Romantic drive, the target was basically not a woman fro the Nepali origin. But her features were akin to Mongoloid race. She was a high lander, whose forefathers had some remote affinity with that race.

This new bird was again a ‘widow’ in status, owned two children from her late husband. Again financial picture was good. She was in government job, entitled as a replacement of her late husband service. In this way, because of this entanglement, the Arcadian Romeo was supposed to be the patron of seven children in total. Five from his side and two from this new sweet heart. Again the “gossips” of this new love story reached back to the parental home. His wife too had become hopeless and everything seemed beyond the tolerance. On one day, she made the surmise raid at the new clinic. She was  heavily accompanied with her brothers, father and father in law. The skull of my this cousin brother, that once was accustomed of leather soled shoe thrashing of father, was to experience new experiment this time.

On the behest of the frustrated father in law, the wife putting off all shame, gave a hard leather soled thrashing to her husband. The Romeo brother was crest fallen, what a dramatic and disastrous scene it was. Looking at the fierce looks of wife, new ‘love bird’ gave up. She publically proclaimed, she never had had any illegitimate relation with the Romeo, rather he was like  a real brother to her. Again the new set up of ‘clinic’ was shut down. This time finally and permanently.

the rest part of the life of my this Arcadian Romeo became a paradigm to other frivolous boys of the locality. His father forced him to take the parental occupation of agriculture as the only vocation to sustain the livelihood. With the passing of time, he became a conventional farmer with an outlook of a withered flower, having a skeleton type person for rest of his life. (End of the story). Penned by — Vinay pharasi …..
