women on social media…..

                                        The epicenter of society

Although woman has ever been as the subject matter, in the center of ‘literary discourse.’  Otherwise also, demographically, women are just half of the population and as such, their role as a vital player can not be ignored in the social system. In Indian context, in literary depiction, about that has majorly been penned down by men only. In this endeavor, only some selective aspects of their psychological facets been described by male writers. Women by nature, have been considered as ‘mystical’ or rather ‘unpredictable’. This made man writers to adopt only those facet’s of women’s life in the literary depiction which were most suitable with in the ambit of social ethical values and norms.

The women, described by the male writers were women, enwrapped in womanish shyness, who endured every kind of taboos and orthodoxy that had been imposed upon them by the male dominating system. This woman was bound to live a life with in a meter. No doubt, some of these writers dared to write candidly about those facets of woman’s life that were beyond the set norms. But that content ever taken with a sense of obscenity and perverse writing. Even after, that in all were not considered authentic.

                                               Women liberty

With the passing of time and introduction of “woman liberalization’ in Indian panorama, so many women writers emerged in this field. They partook boldly in this literary discourse. For a long, their writing too remained restricted with in the parameters of ethical norms. In the true sense, they could not muster the courage to express the views about taboos and orthodoxy.

This sense of “bounded writing” was akin to “bonded writing.” The reason was, whenever such women took the pen in hand, they were afraid of criticism of their writing, for being bold again meant, coming under the slanderous shadow of vulgarity and obscenity. This criticism was firstly to appear from with in the family, they were part of. Later on the vista of criticism had to be expanded from society to the “class” of readers in unexpected way, it was supposed so.

 Rebellious women writers

This sense of fear of losing reputation hindered them to elicit the “true and authentic” contents of  facets of women’s life. This phenomenon occurs with every class of writers at the initial stage. But there has always been some rebellious “group” in every social system, which on finding the right opportunity availed the platform.

This made some women writers to manage in occupying a place as “bold writers’ in Hindi as well as other languages in Indian panorama. The names of prominent writers like Krishna sobti, Ismat chugtai, Kamla das, Shobha dey etc are worth mentioning. All these candidly, minutely and meticulously penned down about the prohibited facets of woman’s life and did that loudly. In the field of woman empowerment there writing had had a tremendous contribution.

                                           Launching platform

With the advent of ‘social media” as a major tool to express the view, it has induced a good number of women to relay the feelings. All this, they too are doing that vigorously, and their view point too being acknowledged and affirmed widely. So many of them are amateur contents writers but indubitably learned one. Such posts, in a natural way attract comments of readers, some of them having dingy mental set-up, begin to take such women as “cheap” object and respond with the comments below the belt.

Surprisingly, such women, maintaining their boldness, respond so poignantly, that helps titillate other readers. The exactitude what a woman thinks and what shaped up in their mind and how in this fast changing environment they have molded themselves, can only be expressed by women only.

Women’s bold hitting on banned subjects

Here, in this article, I am citing some contents from the face book account of a “bold woman”. It,s not necessary to disclose the name. May be, whatever she contributed, have been taken out from some sources. But to enlist that all on her specific account needs a courage. At on place, she writes,” sensuous pleasure is an individual motion and this can not be shifted to one specific (Male) gender“.  Obviously, she hits at the lustful propensity of males, who just concentrates about his sole enjoyment but does not consider about the need of woman partner. At another post her view is, ” man treats a woman like a princess only when he plans to exploit her as a harlot.” Next one, “learned people sitting on the mound of libido and ignoramus in the lap of god.”

In another satirical statement about quacks who proclaim to cure the impotency and advertise by wall paintings—” If the striking rate of healing impotency is so high, why don’t they have , their own big hospitals.” In a metaphoric post she wrote, ” in a drive to seduce my man, in which of my eye, I should apply collyrium (firstly), left one or right one?” One of the mischievous remark came from a man was. “women too have got a third eye! what,s about that?” . The answer from the lady side was, ” bro! kohl is not applied there, only gel works there to make the eye active.” This answer was so stunning. There are so many such posts that astonish viewers. Now I conclude this article, with her one bombastic time line, ” to feel aroused is to feel alive.”….. Penned by– Vinay Pharasi…..
