Short cut to remain in limelight ……

In this banal world, every one longs to be recognized as a “familiar or known face” of the society. But in the huge crowd of people, it’s not an easier task for every one to attain that position. The fact is, there is no lack of numbers of this kind of ambitious people, running after the same goal. Every one of them busied in finding contrivances, to become the “talk of the town.” To attain this goal, some of them opt for politics, other the field of social service, some prefers working hard in their own professional calling to earn a name. They shape up to earn a ‘good will’ in the eyes of public at large.

                                                  Toilsome process

All these are “time consuming devices.” This needed incessant toiling and patience in the same ratio as well. For instance, to qualify some prestigious civil services’ exams, firstly you need appropriate educational degrees to be eligible for that. After that, a diligence added with intelligence is required for the preparation of the competitive exams. A risk looms large there, if couldn’t crack the exam, that may result in anxiety, depression etc. The same factor applies to other profound vocations like medical, law, engineering, agriculture and so on. Again, if you are an independent practitioner, it takes long years to earn a good name, in shape of recognition.

This provokes people, who are eager to become “familiar or known’ in a short span of time. Then what are the means to become a known person in short term of time? Answer is, generally no legitimate path can bring you a fame in a short period of time. The next solution is, by opting “not so legitimate” options can fetch a ” name talked of.” Even, Notoriety carries a name along with it. The  means of notoriety can be categorized mainly under two heads. That is of War, and of Love. The category of Love may sound weird, but it has its another facet as well.

Both these categories of Love ans War, now need to be taken into account in wider spectrum, as well as, from a local point of view. In fact, this blog is confines to the local level, but just to expatiate, a minor description is needed. In wide spectrum,  a War is fought between two Nations. It puts both victor and looser in lime light.

Of course, with a difference, Victor earns the fame while Looser has humiliation in the bucket. Though both earned the name, be it good or bad. The instances of big names of Napoleon and Hitler are before us. Both men, tasted the victory and defeat. At the end both saw the humiliating defeat. But the place, they attained in the history was matchless. People know more of them, despite being Looser and lesser about people who defeated them.

The category of Love in wider sense includes the saga of legendary lovers, afloat in the memory of common people. In English literature, the high flown love story of “Romeo and Juliet” needs no description, we all are familiar with that. Likewise, In Indian Sub continent, the legendary love stories of “Heer- Ranjhaa”, “Sohni- Mahiwal” and “Laila- Majnoo” afloat for a long time. The factors, behind such love stories being afloat still is, the  taboo in love affairs. As on today, despite becoming so modern, the Love still is confined to precincts of race, cast, creed and financial status etc. The love affairs, violating these precincts still opposed by people, though apparently we find a good numbers of such case turn up into wedlock.

                                   Short cuts in local spectrum 

Now in the light of these categories, we look into the matter, from a local point of view to become a known or familiar one. From here, starts the drive of short cut. To become “familiar’ in short term, you need to become controversial. Further to become “controversial” you should be daring to break the long lasting ethics and norms of society. But natural, your this drive is fraught with a risk to get “ostracized.”

Again, we get engage about the category of War in local spectrum. As per the definition of War, we are inept to wage a war. It can’t be initiated at local spectrum. Here we can substitute the element of “violence” in stead of War, at local spectrum to become a ‘known’ one. To become a “controversial” you can easily afford it.

In this contrivance, you need to be a man courageous with a drive of quarrelsome temperament. Be hefty, with a motive to give a shape any trifle matter into a strife, you are advised to take a quick action to turn any issue volatile. You are opportuned to turn a minor issue into a big fight. At once, in this way. you are certain to get recognition of a hooligan. Indubitably it is a negative aspect, but it earns you a position of a “rowdy” in the society, you live in.

The majority of people in the society, always consist of meek, peace loving and of non violent temperament. Theses subdued, impuissant people, at once would begin to pay a respect to you. No doubt awesomely,. But when you begin to enjoy this ‘respect,’ attained by force, it is certification of yourself being a person of “name.” By working hard on this front, after some days you become a “Mafiosi.” And your incessant drive, one day be helpful to affix your name with a conferment of “Don.” In all probabilities, you may have to maintain your drive to inflict cruelty upon others ruthlessly. Though you should be ready to be subjected to the same drive by opponents. In fact, the name fetched has to be a good name. But don’t forget, notoriety also carries a name.

                                              Weird contrivances

Now, we shift to the “Love” category in perspective to the local spectrum. This category covers two type of Love matters. One is, two bachelors of opposite gender falling in love. Not so long back, people happened to condemn such affairs, how pious that might be. These affairs were taken as the sign of degeneration of long standing cultural values, which ever evoked an uproar. Today, such type of affairs have got an acceptance up to certain extent, but with some reservations, as mentioned before. This category, now does not fetch you some noticeable credit.

To become “talk of the town,” you need to do something, “off the conventional track.” Your that demeanor should be absolutely “unconventional and controversial” from every angle. For instance, you may opt to trap some one’s wife ( mother of some kids) in your honey trap. You should be daring to elope with her, leaving her children back at home. Lo! What a great and weird uproar, your this deed fetches in the town!

The man, whose wife you absconded with, certainly has to create highly resonated clamor.  Just Imagine, he is robbed of his woman’s sensuous pleasure, he was habitual of. Besides, he is burdened with a liability to look after the children. He is entangled with an arduous task now. Even the family members of absconding man, we find roaming furiously, casting aspersion upon his wrong doing. But in all probabilities, this controversy is bound to fetch a “name in shape of  mud slinging.” In the concluding section of the blog, I prefer to put before two paradigms. These paradigms may better serve as inspirational incidence for those who wish to become “known” through controversy.

                                                Some paradigms

 First case, perhaps belongs to the England or some other European country. In this matter, a son in law fell in love with ‘her mother in law.’ In fact both of them got infested with vibes of love. In that spree of infatuation, they opted to live in company at a distant place, to start their new journey of life. What a flaring example of big controversy! How it made them both ‘familiar” intercontinental, it’s obvious from my citing the case as an Indian denizen.

Another case is of  my own country(India.) In this incidence, a “Wedlock” was fixed, as per customs, for a stipulated day in near future. Fortunately or unfortunately, there developed some intimate amorous relationship between prospective groom’s father and mother of the bride. Just a week before the day, when this marriage was to get solemnized auspiciously, both lovers got eloped. This ruined the every aspect of the marriage. As per the social norms of “unlawful tie” between father and mother of prospective couple, now they attained the status of foster brother and sister.

There it is! To remain in limelight, you need to give efforts awkwardly on that front! Further, efforts adopted for the purpose are supposed not to be a legitimate one! It’s up to you, what sort of limelight you opt for ? Penned by — Vinay Pharasi …..
