In general, reading oriented ability may be of making an opinion, after going though some written contents about something. Whilst, the “perceptional ability” is forming of an opinion,by “observation of an ambiance or external factors.” Although, the observation may be, based upon the ‘virtue’ developed through a persistent reading of various subject matters or solely on bare observation. Perception may or may not need Book reading of some contents. It may be explained by an examples.
A disappointing paradigm
Here, an instance relates to a person, who is a city dweller and visiting a popular hill station for the first time in his life time. About a hill station, he has conjured an image by going through printed contents. This image of hill station is generated as a”reading oriented ability or concept.” While, after reaching on a hill station, he finds there the “concrete jungle” of numbers of hotels, restaurants and private dwelling and the same traffic hazard, he just left behind in his own city. Mere difference may be of “magnitude” only. The only ” “factor” that soothes this urban man is, the cool climate and lesser polluted environment.
The missing point
So, the reading oriented ability or conception of the urban man about the hill station was different one. He expected to find, a locality surrounded by dense luxuriant forest added with pellucid running waterfalls hither and thither. He too expected a forest, producing wood notes fraught with chirping of various kinds of birds. This was all, he fostered in his mind when he had commenced his journey to the destined hill station. But the absence of all this, in the main hill station disappoints him down the core of his heart. This is the paradigm of ” reading oriented ability”, when you just left your city and started the journey.
The soothing answer to this disappointment is, every hill station generally has got its location at the distance of about 35 to 40 km, from the foot hill city, from where you begin to climb for hill top. Now, when this urban man was heading for main hill station from the foot hill city, still he was lost in his conjured imagination. He did not pay the attention to the mid journey drive, when passing through the meandering roads. He lost the opportunity of watching the panoramic scenario of this mid journey adventure. Since, his mind was captured by the fancy generated by his reading oriented ability.
Lack of perceptional ability
Indubitably, he was to experience the pleasure of watching luxuriant dense forest greenery and occasional water falls visible from a distance, but didn’t. Here, in this instance, he lacked the virtue of perception oriented ability. This “perceptional ability” we notice in “nature lovers, bird watcher or butterfly watcher.” They better prefer to go on “tracking’ for the purpose.
Further, this city man cursorily might have taken notice of some other tourists. Who parked their vehicle in the mid way and gazing down in the deep gorges by the side of the road or at some distant peak. Certainly, he would have mocked at their this gesture. Since, he was in hurry to reach at his proper destination and realize his dream. The dream, he had conceived by going through his reading oriented ability.
People, he was mocking at were harnessed with “perceptional ability,” and enjoyed by virtue of that. But, he knew not an atom about that. It also made him disappoint, since he compares the situation and finds out: the only difference between hill station and city is, the absence of one home appliance i. e. the Air conditioner.
Whom to blame
Who is liable to be blamed for this? Simply the mental ability of a man! Long back, when the spread of education was not so common and people majorly were illiterate. But to be illiterate or ill lettered don’t mean, to be ignorant or stupid. Our forefathers had developed an ability to deduct a conclusion based upon their long observation. This virtue was ” perceptional ability.” In rustic pastoral life, by perceiving the flow of wind or lee side, they could well nigh predict about the coming rain. By listening the bellowing of cow or buffalo, they knew, she is on heat. Another common example is of a mother, who by hearing the cry of infant, at once realizes whether it was for breast feed or of some other agony of the child.
Specific category
All this is based upon perceptional ability. There is a specific category of persons. This kind of people are harnessed with a talent.
