In big city... man loses entity.....
The virtue of recognition
In small city or town area or in Kasba (comparatively bigger village with fewer amenities,) a man’s recognition takes place, somewhat in a faster way. This recognition is larger in shape and speedy in comparison, to big cities or metropolitan cities. Whilst in contrast to small city, a man gets lost in big cities less or more. There, to establish an identity or recognition, he is forced to work hard incessantly. Behind this, sociological factors plays the significant role. These social factors mainly concern, as the subject-matter of, “life style’s comparative analysis.” In small cities, life style is rather slower one. For, the entrepreneurship for that is confined to some limited number of industries, and that’s too at small scale to medium class industries only.
Besides, the population density is thinner also. This factor plays the role, in the sense that a man is not afraid to get lost, in the “menace of crowd” there. Although, a crowd too is there, but not so menacing to feel a person lost in that. In that “dispersed crowd” of small city, every third or fourth person is personally acquainted, with one another. A sense of co- ordination and uniformity ever prevails, that helps generating cordiality. In contrast to that, in big cities every person is stranger to another person. Some how, if one tries to initiate some conversation with a fellow, he responds curtly. Since he is suspicious to the person, who initiated conversation.
Social spectrum of big city
Big city takes the shape of a “big city,” as an outcome of installation of industries in large number. These industries require man power, to cope with the mechanism of production line. This requirement of man power, in shape of “skilled to half-skilled or unskilled form,” attracts the large number of people towards the big cities. Since many industries operate there round the clock in three shifts. Now this big crowd, has got its own basic needs, in shape of habitation and other amenities appertained to human living standard.
The big crowd needs enough accommodation, electricity, drinking water, medical facilities, sanitation etc. That, now become the liabilities of the local government. This local government, in process to fulfill the requirements, further needs the man power. This man power is needed, to run and operate the liabilities or meet the challenges. In this incessant process, the big city goes on swelling with population, that increases the population density. This man power in shape of crowd is always in “hustle.” Often, there place of working is at a far distance, from their residential place for simple reason of availability of living accommodation at a cheap cost,
Want of needed habitation
Every working man is forced to choose the accommodation in the area, in ratio to his earning capacity. Apart from this , the hustle in life leaves no space of time for one’s family and neighbors. This comes up, as a loss of “personal identity.” Often, his friend circle is found to be more than fifty km away, from his habitation.
Always, he lives with a “sense of insecurity” of imaginary concepts. What if tomorrow I fell ill or suffer from a road accident? In that case, some financial crisis I may happen to face? Where to I seek any assistance? Not only this, he has got the friend circle, who are nearly, on the same boat as he is. The concept of “next door neighbor,” has so far been extinguished long back in big cities, we all are aware of that.
Small city has got a cord of affinity
In contrast to this , small cities might be facing the problem of unemployment. Besides, whatever employment is available there, may not be so fruitful in ratio to big cities. But a person somehow manages to sustain himself. Another significant fact, of loosing of personal identity or not being recognized as such, does not occur there in small cities.
Some notable public incidences or prominent achievement of a person, remains live in the memory of people as the topics of the conversation for long. If someone succeeds to establish or settle himself as a person of “Socio-political standing,.” His this status, is certain to survive for long. In small cities, “occurrence of incidences” live a long life in the memory of people. The principle of short term memory is not applicable there.
appropriate opportunities
All the accommodating things, provide good opportunities in small cities, town areas etc to aspirant people to rise as a public figure. Since no “throat cutting” competition is there, as it often exists in big cities. There in big cities, it takes so many years, simply to get your self recognized. Further, there as a socio-political person you are required to work hard to remain in lime light continuously. Otherwise, you may be rejected like an old scraped newspaper of yesterday. In big cities, the uppermost priority of a common man is, to keep himself “alive.” To keep alive means, to get engaged in some employment.
After the fulfillment of this condition he is able to think over, about ‘other things.’ In this ‘other things,’ again first priority is given to his ‘family’ for whom he is toiling. This does not mean that big cities are laden with fallacies only. No! there you find more opportunities. It’s up to you to choose. If opportunities in big cities are alluring you, then you may move on to that direction. But if you conceive a perception that only small cities can provide you a better option. Then, without any suspicion, follow your chosen option and live a happy life in small city.
