The one of most amazing inventions…..

This amazing piece of invention, in true sense has not been appraised so far. Had a proper attention been paid to the precious and matchless utility of this invention, it could have been the subject matter of innumerable research papers.This invention, has so far been from the day of its invention or discovery, much helpful to mankind. Specifically in shape of image building, gaining self-confidence and helping one to float, in the state of self-complacency. To me, it has been a confusing state of mind, whether to put it in the category of invention or discovery. Behind this state of mind, is a short story that I read long ago in my childhood.

                               The childhood story in memory bank

For it occurred to me then, it was a discovery by chance. Though later on, on attending maturity, I was convinced that it might have been an invention, that was discovered as such, as mentioned in the story. This piece of invention needs to reveal its name now, and it is “mirror.” Firstly, the childhood memoir of the short story which goes on as such…

” Long ago, about 700 BC in China, a farmer was tilling his field. There, he chanced to find a piece of something that got excavated by his coulter. That was a piece of “mirror. “The farmer cleansed that piece and when occasioned to peep into that piece, but natural his face was clearly reflected in that. For the reason, the features of the farmer were after his late father, so he at once jumped to one naive conclusion.  The reflection, convinced the ignorant farmer that departed soul of his father  was present in that piece. His departed father as such, had visited to see him.

He very carefully and fondly placed that piece on the earth and with deep veneration, ceremoniously prostrating on the Earth and extended his homage to his father. (Till then there existed nothing in the name of “mirror.”  People at the most used to look at their reflection in the water. In that water refection, a slight gush of the air created the rippling effect, so no any clear image of oneself was conceived, in one’s mind.”)

                                                    A Second Thought

 Then a second thought occurred to him. Back in the home, his better half too should have visual of her late father-in- law. It inspired him to take that piece of mirror cheerfully to his house. There he related the quality of that “unique piece of something” to his wife. Then he commanded her, to have a vision of departed soul of late father-in- law. His better half when took the mirror, taking it in her the hand  and saw inside that.  There she found a young, beauteous face of a woman who was looking  at her anxiously.

Being a wife and prone to jealous envy, she at once jumped to the conclusion that her man “brought” a woman in the home. This woman, confined in that unique piece and in all probabilities he was planning to expel her from his life.  This raised a great strife and physical fight between husband and wife. In that skirmish, that piece dropped onto some hard surface and got pulverized to minute pieces. As such, ephemeral discovery of mirror came to an end. This finding of the piece of mirror long ago, naturally raised a question. It made on think, even much much long ago, prior to the incidence of finding the piece of the mirror, somewhere, in some prior civilization the mirror too had been present, so at the beginning I stated about “invention or discovery.”

                                   An hypothetical Possibility 

The heading of the article is  “The one of the most amazing inventions.”  If we look into the mankind’s spectrum of psychology, then the gravity of the title can be comprehended. Just imagine a hypothesis. In this hypothesis, you manage to release a order in shape of a mandate, applicable to entire existing civilization worldwide.  Through this mandate, all and every kind of piece of mirror, where ever it is present, by the dint of force be destroyed, destructed. Further, the possession of mirror in any shape, be punishable to the capital punishment. Meant there by, no any piece of mirror be allowed in any form, but pulverized.

Now, think of the aftereffect of this mandate in amplification. In absence of the ‘mirror,’ a great kind of “vacuum” will engulf the mankind’s entire culture. A great feeling of missing of someone most beloved, may cause complicated mental agonies of high degrees. No ‘mirror’ means, you are not face to face yourself, which you were supposed to be daily on various occasions formally. Just now think of the real aftermath of this worldwide phenomenon that would impact the whole World in magnitude.

This magnitude, certainly will be more devastating than the aftershocks of thousand Nuclear Bombs. Somehow, “man” will absorb this devastating/ perishing shocks. Since, in general “man by matrix” is not so Narcissist at large, as women are. Men are not given to the phenomenon of “self-complacency” as badly as women are. The best remedy, man always would have in hand -“he can console his this vacuum by eyeing women.” As, from the inception of the civilization, he is inclined to overpower his frustration in this style.

                                            But what of women!!!

If they miss altogether the best companion of life i.e. mirror. A large number of them, at once, be assailed by the malady of depression. This will result,  in the tumbling down of every kind of household affairs. The concept of “domesticity,”  would certainly be turned  up into “topsy turvy” mode. Not all, but also a good number of women may manage, not to fall prey to the malady of depression.  But, certainly be hit by the lesser degree of  psychological disorder of frustration, which can be put to remedy by one’s own will power.

And the remedial solution, women can obtain by querying other women,  about one’s own appearance, “How I am looking?” Here, the complex and stigmatic psychology of woman nature is bound to play its role. In this psychology prospectus of woman, every woman carries a hidden jealous envy for another woman. The response of the another woman in query, would always be niggardly. It is supposed to be curt, ” it’s O K sister or it’s so so” or ” had you tried in this or that way , that would have looked better” type. And if this judgement of the second woman be crossed checked through a third woman. Now, you may by your self can imagine the boggling answer and its chain reaction . You are supposed to  have, slight understanding of the confusing cum flickering mentality of women kind.

In this matter if men were supposed to respond to the women query, their response too would be irritating. Since, their household affairs are already tumbled down by the worsening situation of “lack of mirror.” This would in total create a big uproar, nuisance and great turmoil.

Note- I know, this situation is not going to occur, but if  it occurs; that situation would be no lesser in degrees than the devastation in shape of aftermath of the Third World War. Penned by– Vinay Prakash.
