If we are asked to define the term ” backstage” or “from the back stage ‘ in true sense, we find, the term been acknowledged widely in context to stagecraft. The “backstage voice,” describing the moves of the drama whenever needed to relate something of past. Further, in certain cases what may be supposed to be in next act, meant to manage and control the flow of the move of the play. The same phenomenon occurs in our daily life.
Life is a stagecraft
In general philosophy, the life of mankind has been described as the “stagecraft.” There, man is supposed to play a role entrusted to him for a prescribed period of time. After playing the part, he is destined to take leave for heavenly abode. This departing is also a going of into “backstage.” Since, the deeds of departed soul done in life, may sometimes be put up as paradigm to the present generation. This paradigm may have positive or negative impact as per the nature of deeds. Such “backstage”is like a story, in shape of personal history. Often, it is said, “history repeats itself because man refuses to learn something from it.” Though, sagacious people ever take notice of the past, and take decisive steps by observing and analyzing the past incidences.
“Backstage” may be metaphorical in shape of sound. Along with, may be result oriented in both positive as well as negative way. The cheerful and joyous sounds of events, representing the bygone era, may fill you with delightful sensation. Meanwhile some painful, tragic and lugubrious sounds, may generate rueful effect. Not necessarily backstage is always a past in total. It may be a part of the past of an individual. Who still is alive, and, living a life with bitter or cheerful experiences of his past life which somehow guide or help him decide his future planning.
A cruel past in shape of “backstage sounds of memoirs,” too may lead to produce a result which may be sticky with bloodshed. The paradigms of retaliation, by keeping alive the memoirs of injustice, one suffered as individually or his past generations suffered in the hands of others and that provoked someone to settle the score of past .
Human’s selfish nature
Generally, whole through our life we don’t pay heed to the “backstage” as our past. It,s human nature, who refutes to learn from the past. Why is so? Answer is , because we are selfish. Our this selfishness, ever keeps us entangled with our present only. We don’t care seriously, where and how people of importance in our our life gradually skid to “backstage,” Be that our parents, teachers or intimate friend circle. Never we cared for this skidding of people to backstage. Parents are pushed backstage, just after we espoused to some woman. We pushed back parents, without contemplating the fact that same thing may occur with us in near future.
The same situation is supposed to occur, when our children are supposed to be grown up and get wed locked. The same principle is applicable, regard pushing “backstage” of our teachers and intimate friends . Certainly, we need not become a teacher in real sense of educational system. But ‘yes’, in the capacity of an advisor, when we deliver the propitious advice to a needy person like an elder one/ as a teacher. The same is with friends, who help resolve our problems when we stick in mire of the life. Never we ponder about this “collateral activity,” through which, we are given to push aside our close one in our this selfish drive, no sooner we find them useless for us. One should not forget the concept of “karma” ,that, too should push us “backstage” in near future.
Ignorant of time factor
We should not ignore the fact that this “in back stage,” or “from backstage” complex metabolism, the time is significant factor. Time as a vital player, decides the ‘conditions and directions ‘ of the future. Here if we contemplate, it comes up that incessant process of decaying of “sanskaras” or “ethics” is taking place in our life. Our Oriental civilization, despite passing through poverty and deprivation for long had succeeded itself to keep it on, the apex of happiness index. The reason behind to keep that up was, we always preserved our social and moral moorings.
In the light of those ethics we noticed, human being never got forced to slide ” into backstage.” They were kept affiliated to the present, and their experienced services our ancestors ever sought after. In contrast to our Oriental civilization, the concept of family bond was weaker in the Western culture. But, spread of modernity, materialism and advancement of means of communication too hit hard on the roots of our ethics. Now we are ” I-centered.” Everyone is pushing another one into ” backstage,” without realizing the fact, the very soon in near future we too are destined to be installed cruelly, in the same “backstage.” Penned by– Vinay Pharasi.
