hypothesis of sweet home and factors of animation of a home....
Conceptualization
The hypothesis of “home” was basically for the formation of the family. The place that contained a husband as a patriarch, a wife as a matron and children as other significant constituents. All these combined and dwelling in, whether in a ‘nuclear’ or a ‘joint family.’ But it does not mean that if a person is living alone as “lone wolf” in a bachelor capacity won,t be considered living in a “home’. Certainly, he has to be considered as as such but without a family. Although he maintains his household like others with family members, maintaining a garden etc, but the element of animation plays a significant role here.
In Indian concept, a family is not taken as a complete entity without the existence of a woman as a wife in it. She is the main element along with other family members in which children occupy the paramount position to provide this family unit an echo of “animation.” Here all members of the family are “animated” factors. Their activities in shape of conversation, be it right or wrong, their laughter, cry, their liking for music etc create vibrant sounds that emit from the home.
But have you ever pondered that some times, despite all family factors being accomplished to make a home, it may seem “incomplete.” A home, that may be constituted of a single room or of a house having many rooms. This time the factor to make a house into “home” is not “live” or “animated,” it is “lifeless” or “inanimate” which is not able to produce sounds like living creatures as such. But to bring a “house” into the definition of “home” plays a vital role.
Vital factor as inanimate one
Just imagine of a family “dwelling” having no “kitchen” in it. You will get the answer. A family living even in a single room set and if maintaining her kitchen in the corner of that room is enlivened by the very existence of that kitchen corner. You take another example, think of a house with a separate room as kitchen but not in use! All the items of the menu of dietary chart are delivered on order or members of the house visit at the nearby restaurant to fill their supper. What impression it draws? You may argue that once in a week or fortnight generally every family tends to visit some restaurant as a mode of outing and all we enjoy that. The answer is, you shut the door of your kitchen permanently and visit the restaurant daily and then relate your experience again.
So friends, this is only that miraculous little or bigger cubicle in the ‘house frame’ designated as “kitchen’ that plays a majestic role to shapes up a house into a “sweet home.” Though this is an “inanimate” one. But when the lady of the house, in the early darkness of the morning prepares tea for the entire family and the clattering and chinking of kitchen pots and pottery produce a musical sound that sends a ringing alarm to the family members to get awake. Then it also becomes an “animated” one. And for the rest of the day the menu prepared by the house lady, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner, is the medium that channelizes the whole family into a single unit. The shopping related to kitchen make a person feel sub consciously that he is fulfilling the obligations affixed to the family.
Along with, the every lady of the house, certainly remains harnessed with her own distinct style of culinary art and that taste of food no one finds outside the home. This distinctive taste of foods, forces family members to remain attach to the family in his dormant mind. No doubt, the food of the home is prepared as per the requirements of the whole family and often it is lighter, easily digestible and in tuning to the taste buds of the family members. Whilst the food prepared outside in the market is prepared in bulk and is spicy and with the intention to fulfill the bazaar’s demand at large. After a given lapse of time it produces not so good effect on the health. Withal the energy and sentiments, which are the psychological ingredients of the home food are absent there.
So this is the that small , tiny structure in the house that make you consider your house into “sweet home” as such and provides a perfection to it. is’n it? penned by– Vinay Pharasi….
