The common sense…..

The phrase “common sense,” in simple way been defined as,” sense applied by a common man.” Now, who is a common man? Common man is a person, who applies his common wit in an easier, smooth and general way. This is important to be noted, people whom we take as smarter and intelligent, they often are devoid of common sense. Simply, because they generally apply intelligence and this intelligence overrides the general decision. The general definition , otherwise of common sense is,” a practical judgement based on general perception, shared by nearby people and approved or rather appreciated by them.”

Common sense as an approved wit

The common sense…..

As referred above about common sense, as,” common judgement, by applying common wit.” In this regard an amazing fact is, animals too are endowed with this “gift” of common sense by nature, but we refer that as “animal instinct.” Common sense is a genre, in which judgement or decision taken in a given circumstances are acceptable, appreciated and approved. The approval of the judgement is a significant fact there always. Since, every person in that “social system” feels or realizes, “had I been in the same given circumstances, would have taken the same decision.” A person applies his all faculties and generates a perception, that helps him take a decision.

All the decisions of common sense are not always influenced by the surrounding circumstances. They too are harnessed with the maturity, which a man obtains passing through experiences of the assembling line of life. For example, if you have got a problem in hand to cross a rapid flowing river by swimming through it, and bound to reach at a fix point at the opposite bank of the river. You can only reach at the fix point at the opposite bank,  if you initiate your swimming drive. This you do, by assessing the intensity of the rapidity of flow of water at this side of the river bank.

Again, you are presumed to initiate your swimming drive, from a point that at least should be five hundred feet upward, at this side of bank. Only then, by swimming obliquely you can attain the fix point, on the other side of the bank of the river. This result can be gained by being axiomatic in the past, or by perceiving other swimmers, doing that with a rapid flowing water. This is the perception of the senses. But a smart or intellectual person who does not have this perception, may suggest to diver to cross the river by initiating his swimming drive in a straight line opposite to the fix point on that side of bank. His this hypothetical perception, may be based upon the swimming concept of the swimming pool or some big pond. These are spots, where water remains stagnant. Though he has got a perception, but it,s a feeble perception or the logic applied with intelligence.

                                       Indifference in judgement

The judgement taken by common sense are never influenced by emotions or sentiments. The common sense of every person is subject to the evolvement, depending upon the circumstances and social system he lives in.  The common sense, as said earlier may be axiomatic or by observing others in tough situations. Even you may learn it through some anecdotes being related by other people.

In total, common sense is your life long “feed back,” that is to be effected by personal and external perception. Every person is fated to be born with an ability, to develop or generate this genre of common sense. Never a formal training is prescribed for this. Your awareness and  reflections helps you develop  a common sense in you. The level of common sense in  a certain situation, varies distinctly between men and women. Women by applying there common sense, ably count the minute description. Whilst, men don’t have that ability and in that case men may be erratic. In that case, it comes under the  ambit of “error making” of men. Penned by– Vinay Pharasi…..
