This phrase, we find in conversational use in our diurnal life. Often, it’s used in reference to to some historical paradigm or significant event, having impact on the life of mankind. For instance, in historical context; The rise and fall of Roman Empire. The noteworthy point in this phrase is, it’s an incessant phenomenon conducted and governed by the social metabolism and on its culmination making an impact. But we are given to perceive it otherwise, as if, it’s like a process which occurs at once and is destined to not occur again in near future. The truth is, in this way we happen to “store” this phenomenon in context to some historical event.
Apart from that, we apply this phrase in context to some great personality or business empire as well. This is supported by some reasons. A person doesn’t transform from his ordinary status to a great man with in a few days. Likely to that, a business house does not take a shape of business empire in a short span of time. It always consumes lapses of decades to get established as such as a great person or business empire and that’s too after a long toilsome efforts and struggle. On the same, when we experience some person or small business house being transformed into a significant position as a rising star, at the beginning, this phenomenon fascinates us. With an anxiousness we happen to observe this progress.
At the same, when this person or business house succeed in establishing itself as a “brand name,” we tend to become jealous towards the same person or business house. Even if, we are being benefited by services of that great person or business empire, we begin to become biased. In case of a “popular person” (as a social figure,) who ever exerted to protect and defend our social cause and political rights, after a lapse of time, we begin to begrudge with his success story. We too behave in the same manner with the success of a popular business empire. At the initial stage, the same business house and its products we happened to use with a zest, but after her success story we are given to find flaws and faults in the same product.
Not only this, in our imagination, we begin to think ill of him or her in shape of its prospective down fall. Why this ill will generates in our mind? It has some plain reasoning. We are given to digest the “success story” of a person or business brand up to a certain limit, till a great person by himself or the products of a business house are with in our direct reach. Till the time, a popular leader is easily approachable to us, he is our beloved one. No sooner, he rises to upper bracket, it’s obvious, his busyness and engagements in various activities increases greatly. Now he is always surrounded by large crowd of fans. He is not in a position to pay the attention to every one personally or be in touch in person with one and all. Now we begin to feel ignored by him, whilst the truth is not that. May be, he is now engaged in combating multiple social and political issues and it consumes the vast deal of time.
In the same way, it occurs with in dealing with our behaviour with the business house. We find, at the initial stage, the business house introduced herself with the production of basic needs’ goods. With the passing of time when her products became most saleable fetching her a fortune, this business house stepped on further in manufacturing of costly “luxury items.” When these “luxury items” become beyond our budget, it generates a feeling of upsetting in us and it becomes indigestible to us to watch her success. It makes us eager to witness the downfall of the business house. If we are questioned, whether by the downfall of this “specific” business house, we are going to gain some monitory benefit, the simple answer will be “No … nothing”. Only a mental relief we are supposed to obtain by this downfall. Oh, my brother! It’s the law of the social system, if a brand is removed from the market, then it is certainly to be replaced by some other brand. This is a glaring example of our frustration.
In the same context, we never look into our own disposition. Never, we peep inside our heart. We are given to notice always the rise of others anxiously, for it amazes us. Hence we look at that intently. But we don’t notice around ourselves. We too are some how rising in our life and our this rise certainly revolves at least around our purchasing power. In some cases, it may be minor growth. If we compare our this growth with bygone days, we find our selves stood on a better position. But against this phenomenon of increased “purchasing power,” we have our own propitious arguments. We argue, this growth in purchasing power is visible in entire social system, not mine only. When we become “self centered,” we also forget, this growth in purchasing power is of entire Nation as a whole.
When the purchasing power of a Nation grows, it helps rise a Nation as well. Often, we observe one thing with collective mindset but independently with the same colored glass. It connotes, we have collectively been infested with the ailment of “frustration.” Never we think from the angle that to become a popular person or successful business house, the essential ingredients of “intelligence and diligence” are needed. Whether the same same ingredients we possess or not. If we think, we were in possession of them, then why didn’t we apply that . We could apply that if not in the same field then in another fields.
