Filial attachment —

Oftener, in our day to day business, we hear a common proverb, ”No one blossoms by making others sit.” This simply means, no one feeds some one by making him sits idly and every one either earns or has to earn his own bread. Ostensibly, this proverb carries a weight either.  This is obvious from the fact, if some one is working as an employee in some company or entrepreneur or firm and draws a salary; this he does on the criteria of his ability. The salary he draws for the services rendered as such.

A collateral noticeable fact too exists along with in this job that he pays  an awesome regard to his or her employer as an employee. An employee does this since his/ her employer is providing a financial shelter . No doubt, he should extend this kind of regard too. Since, in process of job, he feels a job security. Of course people working in government job not tended to feel such kind of gratefulness. There to him, his employer is either “State or Central government,” and by virtue of laws of the land he been provided an iron clad job security barring a few exceptions. It’s not easier to dismiss a government employee from the job on minor mistakes, as often it is experienced in the private jobs. Hence, a government employee begins to ignore the concept of job security in virtual mode. He is not prone to recognize or identify his original employer in deep sense.

Simple reason behind is, a job in government enterprises is run and secured by various laws and sub-laws. These laws provide him extra- protection from the high handedness of the senior officials. This makes him not to feel so grateful so deeply. Once, someones secures a government job, he becomes a “thankless creature” in true sense. He pays his gratitude to the government only, when government occasionally announces insurance benefits and salary hikes etc intermittently for his welfare. It’s like display of felicity on becoming gratified on the front of self-interests.

                            The another ponder-able  issue

Again back to the main issue of ” No one feeds some one by making him sit idly.” Who so ever thinker would have coined this proverb, it’s amazing, from where he was inspired from to coin this. Naturally, his keen observation of the social system as a whole, may be the suitable answer.  But — but we are forgetting an utmost ponder-able fact! In the life of every person, there always remains a considerable long span of time, when he was fed by making sit him idly. Not only he was fed, even his so may other requirements , as the necessities of life too were fulfilled by someone. And this all was done by the parents in the name of parental care or under obligation.

From the birth of a child, up to his adolescence and some times up to his attaining the age of adulthood, he/she is looked after by parents. All the worldly expenditure are too  born by the parents. This all is done till the day, he begins to sustain himself by becoming able to earn some substantial amount. Then, when we hear, this proverb, ” no one feeds some one ………” why don’t we count this significant worldly phenomenon of upbringing of a child by parents?

                                                   The answer

The simple answer flashes in mind is, we are prone to avoid this phenomenon. But why do we avoid this phenomenon of upbringing of child by parents? The exact answer is, “intrinsic attachment or filial attachment.” To the parents, child is not “some one!” He is part and parcel of “blood and flesh” of parents. They don’t consider the child apart from there own entity. Besides, child is also not inclined to take parents as “no body,” and parents naturally not take him as “some one.”

The proverb, ‘ No one feeds some one ……..” is no doubt is worldly time tested proverb; but is coined to use for external world, meant other than family institution. There merely lies a subtle line of differentiation regard “my own” and “of out side.” We claim an entitlement over our parents, so that generates an intrinsic attachment called filial attachment. But to employer we apply an extrinsic right. The first attachment has got an emotional value while second has got a qualitative as well as quantitative value.
