Contradictory ethical standpoints …

                                             Edification

Every social system is supposed to be harnessed with its own ethics. These ethical maxim or motto are enacted, with the help of certain cluster of words, in shape of phrases. We all been taught, these maxims or motto to help edify our mental status. May be all those people, who forced us to cram all these, have not been able to follow that. In fact, they, in their personal life, never were inclined to follow that. Under a moral obligation, they forced such teachings upon the rising generation. May be, in doing this forceful teaching, somewhere, deep down in their heart, they were infested with a regretful feeling. For they did not follow these teaching personally, but felt these be helpful to the coming generation. Indubitably, as such they were right on their part.

Such ethical teachings, have ever got  a”prosaically format.” For example, “Always speak truth fully.” Or ” have a reverence for parents and teachers” or “one should be helpful and devoted for the benevolence of others” etc. These are paraphrases we digested in shape of ethical instances. Now we should analyse as well as synthesize these instances. No doubt, truth as a virtue, has always been proven strong and emerged as a winner. Every one desires, truth should come up with a win win position. But, if you deeply peep into your insight, you find, “falsehood is deeply in rooted into our DNA.

                                    Human by instinct a liar

A child in his infancy is well aware of the fact; unless he emits a false cry, mother won’t be ready to breast feed him. His innocent instinct stimulates him to make a false cry. So mother should cuddle him up. Now what name can be given to this demeanor of the infant? whether, truth is winning or the false hood of the child is worth accolade. Gradually, as much as, an infant grows on and transforms into a brat; the propensity to take the support of false hood grows in him proportionately. This propensity, often, he develops through his own. He take the help of this tendency to save

.For instance, on arriving late at school, he feigns a decorous lame excuse. He seriously says, “Mother was sick. I had to prepare myself in person.”  Otherwise also, at a place, ethics suggests, ” to protect  an innocent creature, you are permitted to take the shelter of the falsehood.” Here child, instinctively, putting himself in the category of an innocent one and saving his skin. Now about the another ethical maxim, ” have a reverence for parents and teachers.” Up to what extent, these norms, now a days, being observed and followed, you better ask yourself. After a lapse of time, when parents are in their old, fragile age and are in need of our aegis.  At that verge of life, we begin to treat them like a subservient, they look to us as burdensome.

Being a foolish person, we ignore the harsh reality. That is, in near future, we too are destined to attain the same age bracket as a parent. The worst situation is that of teachers’ category nowadays.  They have grossly been ignored and maltreated. But a teacher is always a teacher. This teacher category, has now maneuvered to compensate themselves by running “private tuition points.” In this way, indirectly extorting the students, in the name of tuition fee and sending the message, “keep on ignore us.”

                        Benevolence in another form

At last, we take the third instance of ethical norm, ” one should be helpful and devoted for the benevolence of others.” In this banal world, every one blames another fellow,  “he is prone to live and enjoy life for himself only.” Dear reader, ponder over this issue deeply. Though, it may sound propitious, but, in fact, no one lives a life for himself only. By adopting, whatever, legal or illegal means, if some one earns a money, in fact he earns that for the amenities of his family. In real senses, his family members got benefited by that. As an earning hand, he toils ‘day in, day out’ in the field.

To live a life for oneself, in real sense, stands for a situation, when you spend whole earning personally for yourself. In this situation, you don’t  spend not a single penny either upon others or to your family person. Just, suppose of a paradigm, in which a person neglects his family and offering his whole ability,  as a die hard worker to the institution, he is working for. Here, his this drive is being applied for the profit of the institution, he is working for. In sooth, all such kind of maxims and motto convey a message, which, we try not to comprehend. This simply envisages, being a part and parcel of the society, we are expected to dedicate some service to our society or nation.

Never forget,  to transform you into a grown up person, your parents and teachers assisted you to become a sensible person. You should always be indebted to your social system, that helps you to grow up as a sagacious person. This is the a cycle of time. that, ever keeps on going with “ups and downs.” As a reader, certainly, you might have observed contradictions in the entire contents. But the bitter reality of life is, we can’t afford to dedicate our wholeness for the society. For that, one is supposed to vouch solemnly to live a life without a family bonding, as a lone wolf. And if, all people begin to vouch for that, how our this social system is supposed to grow in numbers. Penned by — Vinay Pharasi…..
