A natural process – Social media contains various platforms such as Whats app, Facebook, twitter etc, and, these platforms provide us various kinds of moments, dealing with different moods of life. A somewhat interesting moment occurred with me on Facebook, in interaction with a female friend. We both are far located from each other. I am given to quibble with her regard her age. To say, she has mentioned her age about 52 yrs in her Facebook profile. I further add four years in that (considering the universal fact that women tend to conceal their real age), and insist upon her to admit that she is 56 yrs old. The healthy sign in this is that it does not annoy or incense her. She simply laughs away the matter.
During such dialogues, she made a remarkable comment which I have chosen as the main caption of this contribution. She said, ” Ageing is an incessant process. Why should we relate the factor of increasing of years with old age? If I am fifty four years old today then after twelve years I will become of sixty-six and further may attain the age slab of seventy four years old age. How come this is to trouble me? Ageing has got its own beauty.” She was exactly correct when mentioning this, for, we all are destined to become “older.” Some selective old people succeed to transform themselves into sober, profound and dignified person with the ageing. And this they achieve by keeping up positive thinking and following a rightly behaved lifestyle.
We happen to encounter with this class of people enwrapped in profundity and intellect, who explicitly generate an impression with their mute presence. This genus may be found in every walk of life, be it the pastoral (rural) life or in urban area. And often they carry such a deep, profound impression that a spontaneous feeling of respect occur for them. This is the gist of saying, “ageing has its own beauty.” These selective old people have welcomed, the eternal truth of changing social pattern with the passing of the time, with wide open mind and heart and adopting that. This is the art of molding oneself, from this transitory stage to the next level.
Old generation with ethics – The generation that preceded this one, contained a good number of such people. And prior to that bygone generation, a majority of good people existed as such, for, that were the time when high ethics and social values prevailed over other evil things. The company of these old people helped young generation to get enriched from their experiences of life. Back in the Indian rural life, a proverb floats as, ” The consuming of myrobalan and saying of an old person produces an effective result after the lapse of time.” Simply, myrobalan as a useful herbal fruit produces healthy results with passing of time, likewise the advice of old people becomes result oriented later on.
Often we tend to ignore the timely suggestions made by such seniors. We consider them as neglected, cumbersome in the society. But when their suggestion comes true, we regret for not paying attention to them. The renowned ancient Indian seer Chanakya had rightly quoted, ” We should always learn through the mistakes of others, since, we are not blessed with a long life to commit mistakes and learn a lesson from that.”
In sooth, every age slab maintains its charm and this charm is of “virtue.” In this worldly life we have fixed, some physical parameters to describe the beauty. We get enthrall and fascinated by this external appearance. This is a kind of lustful attraction, that catches our eyes whole through the life and make us focus on good looking faces or body mass. Praising that, we run after that, every one desires to remain young and charming for ever. We ignore that only those can ably maintain their beauty who embellish their heart and mind internally, that makes them live lifelong attractive. Penned by– Vinay Pharasi…
