Man has ever been an inseparable part and parcel of a society. No matter what kind of society that be. The reason is simple. when we talk about a society, it means a “mass pf people.” When this mass transforms in a huge shape, it becomes a Nation. Amazingly, this huge shaped Nation, in itself contains multiple number of small shaped societies. This has ever been a pattern of evolution of social system. These multiple number of societies often categorized as “classes of society.” In sociology, in plural form the term “social strata” is used for these classes of society i. e. upper class, middle class and lower class in general. The strata simply indicate various layers of social standings existing in a social system.
In sociological aspects, this concept of “social strata” is a complex structure. But it bears a quality. Despite a Nation being a huge society, these multiple layers of societies are some what interwoven by virtue of being interdependent. As a Nation these societies always remain in “Motion” incessantly. This “state of being in motion” of a Nation can otherwise be termed as being agitated. A society, if its not in state of agitation, after sometimes it become dead alive and often after a lapse of time defunct. This agitating mood is like the pulsing phenomenon of a Nation. Now the question is, why a Nation ever remains in an agitated state?
Answer is, it has a disposition tuned by nature to be always in a “disgruntled position.” Although, sometimes it may be discerned, as if, on reaching point, it has become stable or stagnant. But, whether this “saturation point or stability” is permanent one as natural! No! It’s against the human nature to become stable or contended as such. Never the human’s mental set up been stable in its format. The medical science says, every day a human mind generates or assailed by about sixty thousand thoughts and these are in a flow. Some of these thoughts are so intense in degrees which force a man to contemplate about that. This process of reflection of thoughts makes a man intellect or brings wisdom to him. This wisdom again impels him to generate a series of thoughts.
Now firstly we try to comprehend it by two paradigms. First one is paradigm of an individual’s behavioral pattern. Every man ever remains aspirant to attain some goals in life, that may help him to live a sumptuous, magnificent and influential life. To attain this goal, he exerts his every effort on every possible front. After a long struggle, he feels that he has attained his desired goal. Now he takes himself in a position of fixture. But this in fact is a “temporary state of stability.” For a while he remains in self-contended or complacent mood but after a lapse of time, he is again forced to step out from this “complacent mode.” This occurs by virtue of his being the part and parcel of the existing ecosystem.This ecosystem impels him to come again in motion and become agitated.
This mode of agitation has two facets. First fact is, the position he has attained. To maintain this position, he is but to give always some active or passive efforts. Otherwise, he may topple from his present standing to his previous position. Second fact is, after sometimes he begins to feel “ennui” with his present position. Now he also begins to feel himself in a “lesser position” than already existing other higher social brackets. Now he is eager to give efforts to take a leap to join the upper bracket. These brackets of society are given the another name as “rungs of social ladder.” This already been described as “strata.” This is the situation of being agitated and coming to the motion. A person only can be indulged in motion when he is agitated. This paradigm was in prospect of individual’s behavioral mode.
Now we take another paradigm of ” collective behaviour” or “collective state of mind.” The mass of people collectively form a “society.” In this mass every person on individual level remains in state of motion. Along with, in shape of society, he too demands some collective needs for the society. For instance, a society always needs a system of proper law and order. This is essential for the peace and safety of a society. By virtue of existence of proper law and order, he can give efforts peaceably to attain his desired personal goals in life. Apart from, a society too needs so many other amenities in shape of well maintained roads for convenient transportation, health care facilities to keep a society healthy, sanitation, electricity , proper drinking water supply and so many things to survive collectively.
For all these amenities, society has to look at the “State.” The “State as a Nation” is also a huge shape of society. This statehood is supposed to be run by some democratic or non-democratic government. If a society feels that she is not being provided all these facilities properly, she becomes agitated and disgruntled. But the truth is whatsoever better facilities be provided by a ruling government to its citizens , always some flaws are supposed to surface up in that system. These finding of faults and flaws are paradigm of another facet of man’s nature, where he is not opt to become satisfied with his present condition. Here he may remain complacent with some of these facilities, but after a lapse of time, he again longs for better facilities.
Every society is always loaded with so many demands from the ruling government and no ruling elite can fulfill these demands. This always keeps a society in a “disgruntled state.” As such every society always remains agitated directly or indirectly for its demands. To keep a society agitated, some local factors too play a role but that is the subject matter of discussion her. This is a “healthy sign” for a society to ever remain agitated for some propitious social causes. To pacify the mood of society the governing political elite to comes under pressure to use “resources” propitiously. This forces the political elite for accountability and good governance and zero tolerance towards corruption. In a conclusive way, till a time, a society is “disgruntled one,” it helps for the proper growth of the society individually and collectively as a whole.
